Join Rollin Stanley October 18th for a walking tour of Centre City’s most interesting alleys

As part of Wordfest 2014, I’ll be joined by Michael Cho to guide a downtown alley tour. We’ll be stopping in Chinatown to look at murals and learn about the Back Alley Art Café, then onto Centre Street and 7th Avenue to see the remnants of Calgary’s original Plus 15. One of the last stops will be at Charcut, where $5 Alley Burgers were infamously served to late night passersby.

After the tour, Michael Cho is leading a master class workshop, which includes sketching exercises, discussion and tips. The workshop starts at 11 a.m., and the $25 tickets can be purchased through Wordfest. The walking tour is free and open to the public, so please join us and learn why you might want to take the alley on your next walk through downtown.

Michael Cho is author to Back Alleys and Urban Landscapes, a collection of sketches which depict Toronto’s cityscape while capturing its urban beauty. At Wordfest, he presents his debut graphic novel, Shoplifter, about an English literature graduate and her search to find happiness and self-fulfillment.
