Roger Rabbit and Urban Planning Talk - February 21

Next week (Feb. 21) I will have the opportunity to delve a little deeper into the story of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’ and its’ relation to urban planning.

The film mimics reality in explaining how streetcars in cities were torn up, burned, and replaced by buses and cars through the dismantling of public transportation systems by private companies who stood to profit from an auto-centric transportation system and freeway infrastructure.

This is a great movie and I encourage all of you to attend this screening and discussion.

Each month Calgary Cinematheque gathers some of Calgary’s brightest local luminaries to share and discuss their favourite movies as part of Salon Cinema.
Calgary's last streetcar, 1950.
